Welcome to Song's Martial Arts

History of Song Martial Arts
mastersong For over 20 years, Song's Martial Arts has served the St. Louis Metropolitan area as a school emphasizing both the mental and physical development of its practitioners.  Song's Martial Arts is a family oriented school, which promotes positive thinking and the development of self-esteem and self-discipline as well as improving physical fitness.  Grandmaster Moonsung Song has long focused on helping students develop good character who will use the principles of martial arts to help them throughout their lives.

Grandmaster Song has over 45 years of experience in the martial arts, both in training and teaching.  Born in South Korea, Grandmaster Song began his martial arts training at a young age.  In 1975, he moved to the United States to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  Shortly thereafter he developed and taught martial arts at various universities and colleges, including:

  • Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE)
  • McKendree College
  • John A. Logan College
  • College of Lake County

After several years of teaching at the University level, in 1983 Grandmaster Song opened his first school in Belleville, Illinois.  By 1987, the school outgrown that location and a new school was built at 5601 Old Collinsville Road in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Once again in 2007, the school outgrew its facility and has now moved into a new building located next to the 15 Cinema on Hartman Lane, in O'Fallon, Illinois.

Thousands of children, teens and adults have come to Song's Martial Arts over the past 20+ years.  They've to learn not only the physical attributes of self-defense and fitness, but have also developed mental attributes, which help them lead happy and fulfilling lives.  Under Grandmaster Song's guidance, the school has produced several hundred Black Belts, many of whom are still teaching and practicing martial arts, both in the St. Louis area and throughout the United States. They carry the principles and philosophy learned from Grandmaster Song with them throughout their lives.

We look forward to seeing the thousands of friendly faces that will appear in the future.  You're welcome to come visit our school as the first step in developing higher self-esteem, better self-discipline and improving your physical fitness for a better life.
