Grandmaster Song has over 45 years of experience in the martial arts, both in training and teaching. Born in South Korea, Grandmaster Song began his martial arts training at a young age. In 1975, he moved to the United States to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Shortly thereafter he developed and taught martial arts at several universities. After completing a degree in electrical engineering, he realized Tae Kwon Do was a more meaningful life and started his own school. Grandmaster Moonsung Song has long focused on helping students develop good character who will use the principles of martial arts to help them throughout their lives. |

Deborah Beal (4th Dan) Ms. Beal has studied martials arts since 1986, first as a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia, then coming to Songs Martial Arts in 1990. In her other life, she’s a mother to Lauren, a student at the University of San Diego and a college professor (of Environmental Biology) at Illinois College. She's also interested in studying Korean Zen Buddism and Taoism. |

Keith Albrecht (4th Dan)has studied martial arts since the mid 70's, studying several different styles before coming to Song's in 1995. He's married and a proud father and grandfather. |

Derek Chiu (4th Dan) Mr. Chiu has been a student of Master Song since the early 90’s starting as a young child then progressing to 4th Dan. Mr. Chiu is married to Emily and teaches Spanish at Collinsville high school. |

Steven Metzger (3rd Dan) is the head instructor at Songs. Steven has been studying TKD since the age of 10. He is also into fitness, running, biking and Food! |

Sarah Adams (2nd Dan) has been a student at Songs since 2003. She's a student at McKendree College and teaches the kids class on Wednesdays. She can be bribed with Candy...... |

Rich Allison is a retired LtCol who served in the Air Force for 24 years. He’s been married a bit longer to his wife, Carrie. They have a daughter, Nichelle, and Son, Derek. An avid golfer, Rich and the entire family enjoys bowling, scuba diving, skiing and boarding (water and snow). Both Derek and Rich have been at Song’s since 2007. They hope the women of the family will eventually join them at Song’s and maybe even the golf course |

Ken McCovey (3rd Dan) has been studying martial arts at Songs almost as long as Ms. Beal (but not quite!). He's married and has a 6 year old daughter. |
